That arm might do. You could possibly get some decent essence points from that.

Considering Spyro games even HAVE essence points.

Um... I suppose some kind of energy points you would get from killing enemies that make you stronger and unlock new abilities.

Sonic Unleashed has this feature.

Technically, that wouldn't be essence points as that stuff you're talking about comes from inanimate objects.

Living things have essence. Non-Living things don't.

You just said "Essense points" help you level up and get stronger and thats what the blue gems do. So, technically, they would be essence points.

No, it's not exactly the same thing if it comes from inanimate objects.

It has the same effect, but it isn't exactly the same.

Fish and Chicken both fill you up the same, but they are still different kinds of foods.

You get what I'm saying?
